Wired Kimchi
DAW-less live electronic music performances bursting with rainbow sparkles and glitter! Intense and pulsating organic techno sounds with live acoustic and electronic instruments. Custom self-made audio gear, massaging basses and heart-scattering vocals will make you scream!
The name Wired Kimchi is derived from our artistic and technical philosophy and is composed of two contrasting elements:
This represents the technological component. We utilize a “DAW-less” setup, meaning we forgo traditional computers (Digital Audio Workstations) during live performances. Instead, we work with a variety of physically interconnected synthesizers, samplers, and drum machines. That symbolizes the connection between human and machine.
This stands for the cultural and process-oriented component. Kimchi is a fermented dish where various ingredients mature together over time to develop a sharp, complex, and intense flavor. We apply this metaphor to our music: different genres (techno, pop, glam) and artists are “mixed together” and fermented into a new, high-energy sound.
In short, the name describes an “electronically wired, bubbling blend” of music and art.
This is our live setup in miniature: no laptop, just machines, a mixer and a bunch of cables. All machines run in sync — drag a cable from a machine's OUT into a mixer channel and it joins the jam. Switch patterns, push faders, play bass and chords on the keys, fire samples on the PiBoy and wave your hand at the theremin.

Bass · Synths
From the cosmic abyss, Kynikos sends you just the finest frequencies to stimulate your belly chakras. Deep basses from the mighty Novation BassStation are kissed by the sound of the Prophet. Take a sniff from his diapers if you want to explore the wonders of the universe.
Drums · Samples
Runs Calmy Jane, an independent art and IT label committed to creating weird and wondrous stuff. Usually plays the drums with the TR-8S and funny samples on his custom PiBoy-based sampler.
